Cape Albeon Senior Living Community is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Cape Albeon extends its United Church of Christ affiliation through a variety of philanthropic involvement and ministries. We are an active participant in the Missouri MidSouth Conference and the St. Louis Association of the Conference. Our Chaplain is a UCC minister, who offers weekly worship services for our independent and assisted living residents.

Cape Albeon offers complimentary lunch and community space to church and civic groups, and has hosted many women’s and senior groups including the UCC Women’s St Louis Association, Deaconess Parish Nurse Program and UCC Wives of Retired Pastors. Under the direction of our Parish Nurse, Cape Albeon residents knit and distribute Prayer Shawls to minister to those in need in our community.

The Meaning of Cape Albeon

The word “cape” recalls the earliest founders of the United church of Christ. They were the Pilgrims who first landed on Cape Cod and then founded Plymouth Colony. They were seeking independent living, leaving the society in England that hindered them. “Albeon” is the shortening of Jesus’ prayer the night before the crucifixion that his followers might “all be one.” That was a motto of the Evangelical Synod when it was founded on the Midwest frontier in 1840. They were a united and uniting church before they came to this country. On the frontier they realized more deeply the importance of a Christian community of trusting persons for their life together in justice and peace.
